Follow these steps to pair the muse 2 headband with the Healium app.

Initial Phone/iPad Setup

Muse app and phone/iPad settings

1
Download the Muse app on your iPhone or iPad
2
Set your iPhone/iPad’s auto-lock settings to “Never”
If your phone/iPad automatically goes to sleep, it will disconnect the Muse headband from the Healium app. Open the settings app on your phone/tablet. Select Display & Brightness. Scroll down and find where it says “Auto-Lock”. Set the “Auto-Lock” to “Never”.
3
Connect your iPhone/iPad and VR goggles to the SAME wifi network.
4
Follow the steps for your brand of VR goggles.

For Quest VR Goggles

Set the Muse mobile app and the Quest VR goggles to the same IP Address.

1
Inside Quest goggles, click on “Quick Settings”, that’s the button with the clock, wifi icon, and battery indicator.
2
Click on Wi-Fi.
3
Click on the Wi-Fi network to which the Goggles are connected.
4
Scroll down and find the IP address. Write it down to remember it. You’ll enter the IP address into the Muse app later.

For Pico VR Goggles

Set the Muse app and the Pico G3 goggles to the SAME IP Address.

1
Open the “Library” on the Pico G3 goggles.
Pico G3 are the only Pico goggles compatible at this point.
2
Click on Settings in your Pico goggles.
3
Select the “WLAN” tab (if it’s not already selected).
4
Scroll all the way down and select “Add Network”
5
Click on the Settings Gear ⚙️ of the Wi-Fi network to which the Pico goggles are connected.
6
Scroll down to find the IP address. Write it down to remember it. You’ll enter it into the Muse app later.

Muse setup

Enter the VR goggles’ Wi-Fi IP address into the Muse app.

1
Turn on the Muse headband and place it on your forehead.
2
Open the Muse app on your mobile device and make sure the Muse headband is connected via bluetooth.
3
The Muse app should show the headband signal in the top-left corner of the app. This indicates the Muse app is paired and getting data.
4
Within the Muse mobile app, go to the settings, scroll to the bottom and click on OSC Output.
5
Toggle OFF Streaming Enabled, and enter the wifi IP address from your VR goggles into the Muse app settings.
6
Set the Port number to 5000
7
Toggle on “Streaming Enabled”.
8
Start Muse Stream
In the Muse mobile app, click MEDITATE / EXTERNAL AUDIO / TRACKING ONLY / START SESSION. Leave the Muse app open on your Phone or iPad, and do NOT lock your screen. If your phone/iPad goes to sleep, it will disable the Muse connection to the Healium VR app.

Healium VR app

Download the Healium VR app on your goggles.

1
Put on your Muse Headband, then your VR goggles, and open the Healium app.
2
Login to the Healium VR app (if you aren’t logged in already) and click on Paired Devices.
3
Click the Connect button for the Muse headband
Once a checkmark appears, it means the Muse is connected and ready to go!
4
Select your favorite Healium experience and watch your aura turn from gold to green.
If you encounter an issue, close both the Muse app and the Healium VR app and start again.
